“Momentum means the world to me. It is an agency that puts people first. Momentum has made a huge difference in the life of the young man I am guardian for. They have made his life exciting and opened up many doors for him. They have given him experiences that he never would have had. I am proud to be part of this agency!”
“Momentum makes me feel good, and when I think about Momentum, I think it's a good place for disability people. You meet new people, new friends, and it's a learning company, learning with skills.”
“My grandson has attended at least four different day programs and I must say that Momentum far exceeds any of the others on both quality of staff and the variety of activities offered. It is an excellent day program that caters to the individual needs of the consumers attending.”
“Momentum means the world to me, and I wouldn't trade it for anything else. I can be myself and not someone I am not. The staff are exceptionally nice and very helpful and very supportive when we need to talk.”
Momentum’s Hampden office, located in the Historic Hampden Academy building “second wing” which was added onto the original building in 1956, has an amazing history.
Hampden Academy was founded in 1803 as a private school and before that was a theological seminary. It became a member of MSAD 22 in 1969 (changed to R.S.U. in 2013.) This building has burned twice during its years and sits on a piece of land in the center of town where the Battle of 1812 occurred on its front lawn. The Academy was a place of high school education for students up until 2012 when a new high school was built. The Historic Hampden Academy building is in the center of the quaint town of Hampden, just outside of Bangor.
Momentum’s work is conducted in an open culture that nourishes success, supports personal growth and is driven to deliver quality. We offer stellar programming that encourages growth and skill building.
Our Hampden Community Support program helps people meet their personal goals through activities such as Art and Culinary workshops, Nature Trekking (kayaking, hiking, fishing, camping, outdoor fitness), sports, clubs, and a variety of community integrated activities that build self-esteem, assertiveness, self-advocacy, communication, and life skills in the adults with whom we collaborate.
