Frederick and Debra Sprague

Meet Fred and Debbie. They have raised three daughters who are all grown now. Fred works as an Elementary Health and Physical Education teacher for the town of Baileyville. He has been employed in that position since 1973. From 1969 through 1972, Fred was the summer Recreation director for the town of Baileyville. Fred has his BS in Health and Physical Education and has three years towards his Masters in School Administration. Debbie has achieved her Business Certificate. Both Debbie and Fred have years of experience caring for others. Debbie recently cared for her mother for 9 years until her passing in 2008. She provided total care to her mom who was suffering from Alzheimer’s, Diabetes and Parkinson’s disease. Debbie said she would leave her notes saying which room she was in, she would have people in to play bingo with her mom, and that she “always looked beautiful” while in her care. She provided all of her mom’s needs from feeding, bathing and taking responsibility of all of her medications, and medical appointments. Fred and Debbie cared for his parents as well. Currently, Debbie is taking care of an elderly aunt. Fred was involved in working with a Special Olympics team for 15 to 20 years. Debbie participates in the helping with the “Meals for Me” program in her community through their Methodist Church. Debbie currently does not work and would like to dedicate her time to caring for someone in need of support. She and Fred both feel blessed to have a beautiful home and three great kids and the ability to care for someone at home.

Debbie and Fred’s 24-year-old daughter resides with them and currently works for “Care and Comfort” and is working with children with special needs.

Fred is certified in Mandt, CPR, First Aid, AED, and De-escalation techniques. Debbie is certified in CPR and First Aid, but is willing to attend the DSP Modules, Mandt, and CRMA through Momentum.

Debbie and Fred enjoy Church and spending time with family the most. They also enjoy playing board games, gardening, movies, and visiting their camp in Canada. They love to bake cookies, decorate for the holidays, and spend time with friends. They love to go out to eat as well, but also enjoy staying at home and relaxing. Debbie has done some “At Home America” parties at her home, but intends to get out of that altogether once she is caring for someone. Debbie said they love to decorate for the holidays and that they start decorating their home in early November for the Christmas season. She stated, “We go all out. We have several Christmas trees.” Fred stated that they bake cookies and have a cookie decorating night near Christmas and have friends and family over to help them celebrate

Fred and Debbie live in the small rural town of Baileyville, which is located not too far from Calais. They stated that their neighborhood is quiet and friendly. Debbie and Fred have done some research and have said that the “Beckett Center” isn’t very far from their home.

Neither Fred nor Debbie smoke.

Debbie and Fred have two dogs; a 13-year-old Golden Retriever and a 5-year-old Terrier mix. They also have four cats.

Debbie and Fred would prefer to care for a female as they have raised three daughters and have cared for Debbie’s mom for several years. They are also active in helping an elderly aunt currently. They would support someone of any age, and any functioning level. They are happy to help someone who needs total care, or help someone learn new skills that don’t need that intense level of care. They are happy to support someone with medical needs or challenging issues.

Debbie and Fred have submitted all of the necessary information to Momentum, Inc. and are in the process of finishing up their qualification process. Their experience and level of competence is outstanding. They have shown that they have an open mind and an eagerness to get started as home care providers.
